Description:

This is a book that is comprised of poetry that I wrote when life was only beginning. Most of the poems were written between the year of 1989 and 1991, when I was still discovering life and which path to take. When I met my husband and began dating him, my poetry left me, as if to say, you are finally happy, there is nothing more to write about.

"Abuse of the Flesh" is such a beautiful poem about such a terrible subject. My wife works as a lawyer handling child abuse cases for the county of Los Angeles; and it takes a toll on everyone involved, including those who protect the rights of children and battered wives. "To Be" is a bittersweet poem of unrequited love. As a man of song myself, I wonder who was the lucky guy that inspired it? Linda's preview offers up some earnest poetry about subjects that touch most of our lives. My only suggestion is that she changes the slide transition of the Power Point presentation. I had to cut and paste her poems so that I could read and review them. Otherwise, very pretty thoughts indeed.

Linda's poetry resonates well with the familiar emotions we may have all experienced at some point in our lives. The poetry I read has wonderful clarity and is very down to earth, making it overall a very enjoyable read.

Congratulations to this author.

She writes hard-hitting poems. Not only does she make you acknowledge what she means, but you also feel it. You feel the pain of a physically abused child to the point that you want to just pick the child up, hug them, and tell them that it's all over -- there will be no more pain. Then you realize that you're only the reader. Now that's good writing!

Her love poem really touches the heart. Especially, when expressing that the times she feels the most love for her partner, is when he's angry with her. Now that's deep! Because sometimes as much as we love our partner, we often don't feel a thing when they're really angry with us, until it subsides, and we make up.

Linda, just paginate the pages in your book. The poems are so well written that each deserves its own page. Let the reader savor each one on its own merits. Otherwise, keep sharing from personal experiences, many will be able to relate to them.

God bless!

Linda Fox's Poetry From The Heart is a collection of twenty-two telling poems. Each reflects some powerful inner emotion from her early days; some are dark while others are not. Reading this poems I got a sense that her early days might have some deep dark secrets. But as the book progresses, and the poems, some shift more towards the happy side of life. There is no doubt that these poems reflect her inner being and if you have a desire to explore poetry then this book is worth a look.

Linda Fox wrote these poems early in her life so I suspect they will appeal even more to young adults. If you like poetry then you might want to give this book a look. The only problem I found is that the front matter is not formatted to industry standards. But beyond this the book appeals to the mind.
Beautifully written! [ No Rating ] 30 Nov 2005
Ms. Fox has put together a collection of poems that are honest, and heartfelt. She has found a way to express what we all feel sometimes, and long to share with someone else. I can't wait to read the rest!

Ms Fox writes straight from the heart. She doesn't beat about the bush she says it like it is, this is life warts and all. Her poems are lusty, sad, angry, happy.... well I could go on but you get the picture. If you want a slice of real life then this book of poetry is for you.
