Ramble House seems to be the first, and only, publisher to be interested in bringing back the works of Rupert Penny. Not much can be found about the author, for whom Rupert Penny was a pseudonym. His real name was Ernest Basil Charles Thornett, 1909-1970, and apparently he gave up writing mysteries to become a prominent member of the British Iris Society. His books are mainly in the "puzzler" category, with anagrams, cryptograms and anacrostics providing clues to the murderers' identities.

Try finding original copies of his eight novels and you'll see that it isn't easy. Thanks to the generosity of booklovers who have loaned copies of his novels to Ramble House, four of them are now available in new editions with covers by Gavin L. O'Keefe. Can the other four books be found? Ramble House hopes so.
