Because we find fossils of this landscape under the surface of Winter Hill and in the surrounding areas. The area was around 300 million years ago a delta or swamp environment with a tropical climate, and was situated on or around the earths equator. This book tries to paint a picture of that period through the fossils that we find in the area to give people a real insight into the environment that existed at that time. The proof of the past can be discovered by anyone who takes the time and trouble to search. The fossils are there - hidden often, hard to discover maybe - but they ARE there. Keywords:Listed in: |
