"Revolution Forever" is my 8th Album-A-Day. As per the Album-A-Day rules, it was written, recorded, and performed within 24 hours. This one features live drums played poorly by me and a guest appearance by my good friend Jon Rodgers. Altogether a more indie rock kind of feel than my previous ones. i love album-a-day projects

Hi, just wanted to chime in with a review, I tend to rate more harshly than others (consider me the simon cowell of lulu.com) but I think 'two thumbs' up is a good review....

one of the coolest things about album-a-day stuff is the titles that you generate on the fly... while I don't think you prove your thesis regarding ants having souls, there no question that the title made me listen..

my favorite was 'beautiful people' and your voice is good enough to be up in the mix, so congrats on that... i can't help but like the drumming in "radio station" "Not Making this up" and "Always" are strong tracks too - your vocals sound best on these (in fact, I'm guessing you did these tracks early on in the day!).

oh, one more thing... brief songs like "I only have eyes for you" are so cool!

Hey Chris,

Thanks so much for that comprehensive review! Glad you enjoyed the album and I appreciate the constructive criticism.

To clarify a few things, about half of this album was a collaborative effort with my friend Jon Rodgers, who stopped by when I was about halfway done. He appears on tracks 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Your favorite, incidentally, was totally improvised with him singing and playing violin while I played a recorder or something very poorly in the background.

I just finished two more AAD's within the last couple of months so you should check those out if you liked this one. AAD9, "Pendulum" is available now at www.lulu.com/maxfield and the latest one, "Slide Show" will probably be up in a week or so. Oh yeah, and since you say you're an AAD fan in general, you should check out Maigin Blank's albums if you haven't already because hers are quite good: http://www.lulu.com/maigin .

hey, thanks for a reply. There's something poetic about "beautiful people" - it stands out. It's cool to hear how easily it came to you both.

By the way, my favorite is now "Always" - I realized this when I was humming it just the other day. Someone asked what song it was, I just said 'Maxfield Heath' - and then i realized that your song was playing in the "top ten list" in my head.... so both you and your friend can carry a tune...

"stop clocks and disconnected thoughts...." is that the line? Well, it's the line in my head, it's the best part! Then again, even the final drum beat at the end - after the song is over - is good for some reason.... funny how tiny things matter in a song.

and yes, I loved maigin blank's work too. Thanks for the heads up.

just some more random info:

Actually it's "Stopped clocks and disconnected phones...". The disconnected phone part is, like "Phone Guy" about how my phone line became suddenly and inexplicably disconnected the day before I made the album. "Always 6:30" was inspired by the fact that for most of my life the clock on the wall in my room has been stopped at 6:30.

Very cool stuff. I like the mention of the patch cord :) I look forward to hearing more. And seeing the claymation stuff which looks cool too. :)
