My name is Randall Lopez.
I am just a local guy (Inland Empire born and raised) who has a family and a regular job. I am not an event or concert promoter and I am not trying to become a promoter. But I am really into organizing local concerts and community events to raise money and awareness for local community-based organizations that are promoting social justice and open/inclusive political and social dialogue.
Tina BOld's DIY INfo and and HOW-TO tips for organizing local shows and presenting and promoting socially conscious ideals and values as integral parts of local shows helped me see that ANYBODY can organize and present concerts, forums, or other types of community-based events.
TIna laid out in simple STEP-BY STEP manner exactly how to start the process of putting on a "DIY" show without going broke or insane; and she also explained with great efficiency some of the obstacles she made when doing local shows and also some mistakes she made when putting on shows, so others could benefit from her 20/20 hindsight.
Basically, Tina's DIY info has this to offer any regular person (who is not a big time promoter or producer) who has ever wanted to do a great concert or really helpful social or educational forum: YOU CAN ORGANIZE AND PUT ON YOUR OWN CONCERT OR FORUM (OR BOTH); THESE ARE SOME OF THE OBSTACLES YOU MIGHT ENCOUNTER; AND HERE IS HOW YOU CAN GET IT DONE...
And it's worked pretty well for me and many of my friends. I have now been using Tina's DIY help tools to organize or help to organize local benefit concerts, community forums, and awareness events with and for organizations and causes as Axis of Justice, Food NOt BOmbs, All of Us or None, Planned Parenthood, Amnesty INternational, Ralph Nader, Veterans for Peace, Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools, Aid From the UNderground, The Green Party, nationally touring bands, various local churches and other social-justice coalitions, and more, for the last 4 years... and the list goes on and on thanks to Tina BOld.
Tina's lessons/tips have helped me and my friends put on concerts, benefits, and social forums that have been well publicized, well attended, and well received in and by local communities.
And i still call Tina for advice and encouragement all the time.
