Daydreams & Nightmares ****** (great book!) [ No Rating ] 10 Dec 2006 (updated 10 Dec 2006)
Daydreams & Nightmares by James E. F. Riley, Sr. $19.99

Daydreams & Nightmares is a collection of poems and dark, 'Tales From the Crypt-like' short stories in which the characters make choices and then have to pay for the choices they made. The stories are powerful, the characters are well-developed and these are stories that stay with you and make you think.

Mr. Riley's poems reflect some equally powerful emotions that stay with and move the reader.

I am not a professional reviewer and maybe my opinion doesn't count for much, but this book has moved me enough to post my thoughts and try to recruit my friends and even people in the groups I belong to. I think this is a writer we'll be hearing about and reading for years to come! I think you should get and read this book.

Wow! Just had to put in my two cents worth here. Thought the book was really good. I loved the stories, sexy and erotic, dark and so interesting that I couldn't put it down!

I do not know how to add stars to my review, but I would want to give this book all the stars I could!

I wrote librarians in my area asking that they get copies, had a hell of a time with them. Seems they dfon't care what their patrons want, they only go for books by big authors who we have all heard of and know. Well, that is their loss because I discovered a new and great American poet and writer here at Lulu.

Thank you Lulu and thank you Mr. Riley. You are going to be a legendary American writer!

I got the book and thought I'd pass on the poems at first. I went straight to the short stories and they reminded me of a good show or movie. I couldn't put it down! Every short story was a little scary, a little dark, took me through twists and turns and drove me to an unexpected ending. They were stories I'll remember for the rest of my life!

Then, I returned to the begining of the book and started in on the poems. Usually, I'm not a big fan of poems, but Mr. Riley wrote about love, he wrote about politics, he took poetry to a new level and even had a few surprises in store for me, like ~ Forbidden Fantasy ~ I don't know what else to say, he let me into his soul and I feel like I know James Riley. Wow!

He can write scary, he can write soothing, he can manipulate the language and the reader, me, and maybe you with his words and characters that came to life from the pages.

I highly recommend this book to anyone reading my review!
