As a new father, Mother's Dozen has been a great resource. Why re-invent the wheel when Joyce Fields has put together a simple, yet comprehensive road map to child rearing.

The 12 categories are basic ingredients that cross gender, race and culture. To sum, Mother's Dozen takes you back to understanding the core values that drive individual behavior from infancy to adulthood. A great read.

A lots of Love, that lasts a lifetime!!! [ No Rating ] 18 Apr 2008
Mother's Dozen is a short fun-loving inspirational guide for parenting. Filled with GREAT advice and reason for those who have questions, and feel there is no help or no one to show them "how to do it". Mother's Dozen offers insight with personal experiences from a very established well-round individual, a truly genuine author.

I am a believer that anyone who wants to raise respectable, intelligent, outgoing, independent children would find it in this book. There is something for everyone to learn from, especially the parents.

Being born of the late 70's era, I can relate to most of the upbring mentioned. We didn't have a lot, but we always had enough, and always had a good time.

I would encourage everyone to get your copy and start yours and your child's future on a brighter path to a long enjoyable life.

Wow! What a great resource for today's young mothers and mothers-to-be. It's also good reading for fathers, too!

"Mother's Dozen" is only 48 pages long, but those 48 pages are packed with wonderful tips to help young mothers in raising their children to become caring adults.

Remember, our children are what we make them. "Mother's Dozen" can help to make your child someone that you, and society, would be proud of!!

It's a $10.00 investment that you'll reap the benefits from for a lifetime. As a bonus, your child will thank you.

This is an exceptional book for new mothers as well as fathers. Reading page by page, from start to finish, you are drawn to the teachings of motherhood. Mother's Dozen is the perfect book to be included in the "care package" a hospital gives their new mother's. Mother's Dozen, in my eyes, is a guide to structuring a foundation for your new family. A child requires a sturdy foundation to build on as he/she grows up. Hospitals, pre-schools, and any facility that comes in contact with young mother's and father's should distribute this book with pride to the young family. My recommendation is "tops". Thank you Joyce!

Reading “Mother’s Dozen” is like having an important chat with a trusted, experienced friend or relative about how to raise a wonderful child. The good-humored, straight- forward, practical guidance presented in this book could only have been written by someone who has been there, someone who has seen the results, someone who cares about the future of all children who will one day take their place in this world.

“Mother’s Dozen” says much in few words. It’s the type of book that could be used in schools to stimulate thinking and to create a dialogue among teachers, students and parents. Such a book is the perfect catalyst for discussions at parents’ groups, play groups, book clubs, youth groups, block clubs, parent-teacher associations and community organizations. Hospitals could give it as part of a package for new parents. New parents would welcome support and guidance in becoming the type of parents who make a positive difference in their child’s life.

A mother’s principles, love and guidance thread their way through every page of “Mother’s Dozen.” No wonder the outcome is “a wonderful son.” Might be interesting for the son to write a companion book telling us his reactions to each principle that shaped the man he is today.
Book deserves 6 stars.

I rate this book with six (6) stars. This book is loaded with the logic of K.I.S.S. - Keep It Super Simple. The book is so full of wisdom that really works, I would like to see it become a part of the packets that are given to new mothers in every hospital. We know that much of the wisdom from our elders is now a thing of the past and this book can help to restore some of the tried and true guidelines for raising children especially the male child who will have the responsibility of heading his home. We see the results of children having children in our society today and we have seen the results of a generation that does not know GOD. It is an excellent book and should be sent world-wide to schools, libraries and colleges for those majoring in child development. I would like to see Lulu get behind this book and push it nationwide.

As a new parent of a 1 year old son, I'm constantly bombarded by comments from others as to how we should raise him --- and many times these unsolicited opinions go against the heart of how I was raised. This is an excellent manual that helped to reinforce my convictions that the Golden Rule is still the BEST rule. Great job!

This is DEFINITELY a must-read for new mothers!!! I would have liked to have read it when I was pregnant with my daughter. All of the virtues Joyce talks about in raising her son applies to me. HOWEVER, I had to learn everything as we went along!!!

Let me first start by saying I'm not a book reader, therefore I loved that fact that the book was so short and to the point. Kudos!

As for the content, this manual was awesome. Although I don't have kids, nor do I want them, the information was easy to understand and relate to. It took me back to how I was raised. Both my parents and grandparents planted these categories inside me without me even knowing. This book reminded me how and why they did things the way they did.

Every topic was on point and needed to be address. A few of my favorite topics of advise were (1) Feeding a childs interests (2) Learning to like virtually all fruits and vegetables (3) Manners helping with human relations (4) Rules, Order and Organization

Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
