Description:

[CD AUDIO, High Quality 64'27"] Soundtrack VERSION 1 to the 1922 F.W. Murneau b+w silent film performed LIVE by "Goorilla". Istvan Peter B'Racz (keyboard, sampler, sound design, live mixing, recording engineer), Joseph DiPonio (Sax, ancient Knob Synth, various percussion), and Edward Ludvigsen (flute, guitar, vocals and vocal-loops). Performed to the 60' "Republic" video release. Start it right at the "Greek Pendant" image in the beginning...This is actually one long track divided into 8 index points. If you'd like to preview the entire work, please listen to the Mp3 preview-version (following this one). The low price of the CD reflects ONLY the manufacturing cost (NO profit is made in the sale of this recording). Thanks for listening, dear listener.

I simply LOVE this performace/version. I've listened to it many many times, and I STILL dont get tired of it. Each time I hear something new. There was something magical when Joe, Ed and I did this one...it was so right. Its rare to find that kind of chemistry. We had a lot of fun creating this work. We sat down and watched the film a TON of times, taking notes as to where various "hit points" were musically- and then we sort of divvied-it-up into sections where one of us was "the leader". We'd record ourselves playing along while watching the film, and then listen to it while watching and taking notes. Then we'd do the whole thing again. Tiring, yes, but very fun (in a sick way). Eventually, we'd come up with various moments we liked and started forming a graphic score (more like an events-list with notes and graphic music symbols). Each of us had a lot to do, so it was fun to see how three people could create an hour-long soundtrack that had some sort of common themes, yet stayed musically interesting. One theme that is easy to follow is the digitally-crunchy sound that symbolizes the blood of the vampire Nosferatu. You can hear it coming in and out thoughout the work, tying together various places in the film. There is a motif in the guitar that comes back, as well as a Nosferatu set of sounds that return. The CD sounds SO MUCH BETTER than the MP3, that its like comparing a glass window to wrinkled wax paper. Do yourself a favor, if you're interested in this one, get the CD version.
