Description:

Set in Ancient Egypt during the reign of the usurper, Pharaoh Shishak, "In All His Glory" masterfully fills out the sketchy details of history. It tells of the stormy relationships between the Hebrew refugee, Jeroboam (later king of Israel), the pharaoh’s daughter, and that same pharaoh who later raided Jerusalem and carried off all the treasures of Solomon’s temple. The author’s account of this adventurous alliance — of intrigue, murder and suspicion, of plot and counter-plot at pharaoh’s court; of temple ceremonies; of rioting by striking workers at Thebes; of grave-robbing and entombment — not only has the ring of truth, but presents a fascinating and gripping picture of a society both remarkably different from yet strikingly similar to our own.

Two worlds have always fascinated me: Ancient Egypt, and the world of the Bible. Although for most of their history, these two worlds had little or only sporadic contact, there were at least four occasions when they met together more significantly, namely in the days of Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and Jeroboam. The first two occasions, of course, were both peaceful. Moses, however, presented a violent clash almost from the first. With Jeroboam, on the other hand, his dealings with Pharaoh Shishak raced in a mad circle, always veering wildly from friendship to violence and back again. Here, therefore, in the Egypt of Pharaoh Shisak, in this clash of two cultures and two overwhelmingly strong personalities, I have set my novel, "In All His Glory".

I have of course fleshed out the Bible account considerably. This is a novel of 280 pages. The Bible, even in its vastly expanded rendition in the Septuagint, presents the whole story in around the same number of verses. So I have drawn extensively on the literature of Ancient Egypt itself to present my vividly-drawn characters in a fast-moving, incident-packed narrative that will grip the reader from first to last.

As an amateur Egyptologist, I have read widely on the subject, visited museums and studied artifacts at first hand. As an expert Bible scholar, I have written commentaries and translated books from both the Old and New Testaments. With “In All His Glory”. I’ve taken great care to ensure that my recreated world of Ancient Egypt is both fascinatingly picturesque, yet absolutely true-to-life and grippingly realistic.

This novel was one of seven chosen for publication in an international competition that attracted over 3,000 entries.
