Acupressure and acupuncture have been proven effective for relieving diarrhea. For example, acupuncture has good effects for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), for infantile diarrhea, for diarrhea in persons with HIV/AIDS, and for E. coli diarrhea. For preventing diarrhea, cause factors of diarrhea are analyzed, and prevention methods and acupuncture points (acupoints) are recommended. For healing of diarrhea, methods and time-tested acupoint prescriptions are provided, including those for acupressure, acupuncture, moxibustion, and auricular acupuncture. Different types of diarrhea and therapeutic principles are described.
