I couldn't wait to get this one, and I was impressed with this next installment in the series; I think this one is the best so far. Dark emotions run rampant and uncontrolled in Affaires, leaving many feelings hurt and betrayed, but eventually restored...however, there are still some things going on between Edward, Ryan and Christine that haven't been resolved, which openly displays itself at the end of the book!
Affaires was pretty exciting and fast-paced, barely giving the reader a chance to breathe. I for one, had to keep reading until I was done. Amid the tense feelings felt among some of the characters, they had to deal with a psychotic necromancer that was an old love of Ryan's--but even that relationship was very unstable and built on lies-- and she's still holding a torch for him in hopes they can get back together, leaving Christine feeling very insecure and bitter, making memories of past bad relationships haunt her. The fact this woman knows dark magic and controls a small army of the dead is very chilling. Having enough, Christine's mean streak pulls through (--ever find out what happens when you corner a rabbit? even it'll fight back if it has a chance.) and she destroys the zombies with brutal (and bloody) force, and with thehelp of Kiera and Kurt--a new character whom I've taken to already, (I can agree with Jen O. there)--she and Ryan end this mad woman's reign.
I'm hoping Edward won't be out of the picture entirely, as I was beginning to like him and I've grown to like these characters already, lol. Christine and Ryan have not only a very non-conventional relationship--aside from their contrasting ages and mystical powers they share--they are two complex characters, full of depth and emotion, makingthem very real. Again, I'll be waiting for the next book eagerly.

Deep, dark, and scary, while still delving deep into the private emotions of the characters as well as ourselves. "Affaires" pushes the limit as to how far one can go when it comes to love. Makes you realize how unstable some people can be today, especially if thay want to take extreme measures like using black magic.
I really liked the chemistry between Edward and Christine in this book. you find out a bit about each other's past, making them feel very real. I especially love the sensual scenes between Christine and Ryan, I look forward to those! The action is exciting and gory, the drama and love scenes are well balanced, and the dialogue is witty and creative. You never know what is going to come out of a character's mouth! (and for that, I LOVE Kurt, a new character recently introduced.)I'm dying to find out what happens in the next book--the sneak peek at her website isn't enough! lol.
