Five million a year is 575 each hour! The 575 Project is a memorial to these unwanted pets. Created by Cyrus Mejia, these artworks utilize objects collected from shelters – dog collars, rabies tags, pet food cans, and cage ID cards. Mejia collected 575 of each item and created an art piece from each collection. This book is a catalog of The 575 Project with photographs and descriptions of the artwork as well as an interview with the artist.
