A Descriptive Geography and Brief Historical Sketch of Palestine is a translation of the Hebrew original, Tevuos HaAretz, by Rabbi Yoseph Schwartz, who traveled and settled in Israel, in the mid 1800s. This book deals with the borders of Israel, its topography, the division of the land into the sections of the tribes, the genealogy of the people, geographical names in the Tanach, Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount. It also includes chapters on the flora and fauna, climate, and the earthquakes of the country and a section about the History of Eretz Yisrael after the destruction of the Second Temple. This is the first edition of the work, translated by Rabbi Isaac Lesser.
