I have been a fan of Mel.P’s work for quite a while now, and it was a treat to finally be able to purchase her comics in a collected form. Mel’s artwork is a nice creative mix that resembles a blend of Disney slash anime meets the dark style of Jhonen Vasquez. The thing that really attrackts me to Eternal Wings art style is the way that the artist doesn’t cute up the art work she shows the gritty side of emotions which I think help people feel for the characters of the story more.
Story wise, it follows the life of Chibi the goddess of Fate who has been banished from heaven for causing havoc on her sister Venus, her followers and most of the human race. Trying to educate his daughter God has her sent down to earth to leave among the humans and become their protector. So even though she looks like you and me, Chibi has the ability to fly and other powers.
Though she has been given the responsibility of protecting the human race she really hasn’t taken on that roll yet and is still more happy doing what she wants to do, but thanks to a couple of humans such as zander and his twin brother jander, clarice and Amy she slowly starting to change. Though sadly we wont see this develop more for a while as Mel has put the series on halt for time to work on her other project’s.
Personally I feel the creator put a lot of her own personal feelings into this comic for example her feelings on drugs showing the good and bad side of them, you might not agree with her views but everybody entitled to opinion.
I think Eternal Wings is a brilliant comic series with a dark sense of humour, which lets you appreciate the views and struggles of someone who’s always made to feel like an outsider.
Defiantly a must buy!

I enjoyed this. The artwork is great. The animation from panel to panel makes my heart want to explode with happiness. The coloring is phenominal. In short, EFFEN A! MAKE MORE!
The first collected volume of 'Eternal Wings' is quite excellent. Rich, colorful illustrations and a fun spin on over-the-top fan culture. A great view of the pain that exists when you feel like an outsider.
