As a history writer on the California Gold Rush I must say I found this book to be well researched and written. Gould's knowledge of mining history along with past and present mining techniques really helped me advance my own knowledge of mining. Plenty of great photographs and his personal stories also made this book a "fun" read, unlike many other books on this topic that I have found dry and boring. Gold Miner 49er is now a part of my own research library. I highly recommend this book for anyone who shares an intrest in mining, or enjoys learning about the California Gold Rush.
