Description:The idyllic island village of Jadewater Cove is under siege. A long-standing animosity between the islanders and the Sirens, mysterious and dangerous creatures that live in the sea, have come to a head, and now boats are disappearing leaving no survivors. Greychen Seasand, the daughter of a poor longshoreman, lives a life of poverty and indignity slaving away just to make ends meet. She is desperate to leave the cove far behind, and hopes to enlist the aid of a mysterious wise man on the nearby islet, Djallirojah Rock. Her friends, a spoiled rich boy named Remekin, and a little girl whom she baby-sits named Dakes, tag along on her quest to meet the reclusive wizard. Can they escape the fate of the other sailors to get to Djallirojah Rock? The trio must not only deal with the Sirens, but pirates, an overzealous royal navy, and a terrifying new threat that leaves Greychen questioning just how much she has to learn about the world around her.
