if you want NON-contemporary, out-of-the-box thinking, and original, dark stuff, i recommend this book. You won't find disturbing writing like this anywhere. this is a good medley of different styles, from creepy, to gross, to emotional to darkly humorous. if you crave something with an 'underground' feel to it, Hallowed Malice is it.
The stuff in this book is raw, brutal, and sometimes even hard-hitting. It makes you wonder if the minds of these writers should be examined--that's how disturbing most fo this book is. This is NOT for the squeemish, weak-stomached, or straight-laced, PC people. THESE WRITERS DO NOT WRITE FOR THE MAINSTREAM--THEY WRITE FOR HARDCORE HORROR READERS. which, in my opinion, is what we need in such a boring hollywood-glazed horror genre. Spider and Glascow will freak you out the most, i believe, but the works of all these writers got my skin crawling in one way or another! I'll be faithfully looking for more from this group.
Emotional, yet deep-cutting, these stomach churning and even thought-provoking stories will get you thinking. The stories by Augustine, Glascow and Spider will make you cringe as you read them. I enjoyed the photography and art by ms. Santiago, and her story 'Poetic Justice' gives a bit of morbid humor to this collection. Ms. Augustine's poem 'Decomposition' will certainly shock the crap right out of you. A job well done!! :-)
