Garageband Records review of, "The Peruvian Queen" as performed by Brando Quin and RavenPheat [ No Rating ] 1 Sep 2008
"Great...I'm a sucker for storytelling lyrics... I enjoyed listening to this one - I had to know what would happen. Musically, it is a simple arrangement, but I love the instrumentation - really interesting drum pattern, and some great guitar playing. Also really enjoyed the vocalist - great performance!!! The only thing I would say is that this really begged a stronger chorus - a bit like like "Dixie Chicken" which tells a similar story but has a real punchline. Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Originality."--JimPearson North Of England, United Kingdom September 1st, 2008

"Vegas-esque...Quite quirky and crisply produced. Sounds quite similar to the last band actually in that they are both quite original sounding and "theatrical" Lots of disparate things working together here and it just about holds itself together. Decent idea....Like a twist on an old Tom Jones song or something. odd and good"--AndyJohnson Middlesbrough, Teesside, United Kingdom September 1st, 2008

"Intro...its an interesting intro. The vocals sounds a bit loose from the mix. But i like it , it sounds old school, like your performing at Woodstock 69 or something like that. Cool song just a little rough around the edges"--Stefandixon Cape Town, South Africa September 1st, 2008

"Odd...and therefore pretty unique? If I was asked to describe this song in one word, then I'd probably choose "odd". The timing of the beat laid out on the drums is the first thing that strikes me as odd, playing on the 'off' beat for the majority of the song. The vocals have a bit of a 'pub-rock' feel (think of the band Dr Feelgood). Then there's the 60's female doo-wap vocals and the 70's rock guitar solos which pop up now and again. If that sounds like an intriguing mix, then it most certainly is. The band have an abundance of ideas...overall the production is very well done...a totally unique sound which the band should be encouraged to keep exploring."--Phil_lewis September 1st, 2008

"Nice track...Punchy drum and guitar intro. Funky, comical vocals and quirky lyrics are unique and have a raw charm. It's a grower of a track and the lush female harmonies give the track a warmth which contrasts the harsh delivery of the lead vocals. Nice job!!"--Delilahsgold September 1st, 2008

The whole night...This should be in a movie! I can see it all from here. It just... man it fits perfectly for some kind of movie. You gotta keep this coming this stuff. The vocals remind me a little of Bob Dylan at times, in a good way. Just a nice steady beat from the drums...The guitar solo at 4 min is great...Extra Credit: Guitars, Originality, Best Potential Movie Soundtrack."--Mikkel1 Gilleleje, Denmark August 30th, 2008

"Good story...Reminds me of Vegas for sure. Must have been a good time. I believe you will sing this song until she might hear it, or appreciate it. The guitar flippin rips it, solos are well though out. The drum's are great and feel the lyrics well but I think the levels kind of throw me off. I like that you leave this song raw. I think that this song has made allot of people think of similar experiences and that is always good, alway funk with their heads. "ex is so complicated...the pulsing bass is steady and persistent. the vocalist is strong and the guitarist is inventive...actually sounds like two drum sets... the female bgv's are fun and keep the song interesting."--Jeromewincek Oil City, Pennsylvania July 1st, 2008

really cool song
really cool tone. at first i thought "ew i hate that snare sound.... (it reminded me of st.anger by metallica)" but as the actual song kicked in, i really liked the tone. the drum tone matches the crunchy guitar and soothing bass in almost key with the instruments. The vocals are very poppy and flow well with the bass. I like that the bass is the main sound, or at least louder in the mix... i find alot of groups cut out alot of bass. its good to hear talent. the guitar parts are well written for the song, no over done parts or showing off, yet great display of talent. Great slace work and lead breaks.

this song has a 'Dylan'ish sound to it, it reminds me of bob dylans mid 80s work.

great mix and production

"Your review from Arctic Soul...Great beat. Sounds like it was mastered ok. This guy keys correctly, very critical, (and I'm jealous) The lyrics are ok too. Good expression. Wow, turn up that guitar, I love it. I used to work in a casino so I can relate. So this is why I never scored in the casino, I always played Keno. Your voice is good enough to do rock tunes like AC/DC. Awards for: Production / Lyrics / Mood / Originality / Male vocals / Guitars / programming . 7 total. "Hot steamy sex...You're doing some cool rhythmic stuff, but the chord progression is SO predictable. Backing vocal harmonies sound really good. I hear a lot of Bob Dylan/Tom Petty influence in this tune. Seriously where the f*** is the harmonica? Lyrics are pretty comical at times - not sure how seriously the vocalist is trying to be. I do laugh at the hot steamy sex line each time it comes up. Tune is a little long for my taste. Funny stuff, not sure what the real objective of this tune is though."--fatheroftwelve Richmond, Virginia June 18th, 2008

"Unique groove, raunchy post-Dylan Dylan! The Song Snuck up on me! Nice simple melody lines hidden in speaking style vocals were very effective. Sex themes (indeed the word "sex" in the first line or so) helped to grab the attention. The only thing I'd change is make it a bit shorter... Execution-Tight, spot on from every performer. Production-Perfect: unobtrusive, delivers the song right to my ears the way it should be. A pleasure to stumble across this little gem! "hooo-Lah-hooooo...In this one the lyrics are of the main importance; I couldn't just ignore it. It's an interesting history, and the whole point of the track resides around it, having the bass groove, and the drum beating all aorund the story-told vocal melodies. Only the guitar dictates almost as much as the vocals in terms of direction. This one goes from both vocal and instrumental connectivity with Gogol Bordello to a fresh beach groove from Californian Red hot Chili Peppers. A lot of points also to the Rockabilly/50's feminin 'hoola-hoo' choirs, by the way. It gives much to the music. It almost makes us miss the band when the story ends, kind of like when you go to the movies. (good guitar solo, by the way) Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Female Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Bass, Melody, Beat, Mood, Originality, Best Potential Movie Soundtrack."--Agressiv Paramos, Aveiro?, Portugal May 7th, 2008
