Description:

Viking Heritage Magazine started in 1995 as a result of the Council of Europe work on Cultural routes. It developed through time into a well known magazine, with subscribers in 26 countries. The work was partly financed by the County Administration of Gotland, Sweden, and some EU funding. When these funding ended in 2005, Gotland University did not have the means of going on supporting the magazine, while we had to cancel the publishing of the magazine in the end of the year 2005. This digital compilation holds all the numbers available today, from the very beginning in 1995 to the end of 2005. There are though some numbers missing, most of all from the early years. Some of the issues we have scanned, but the last 5 years are digital versions and in very good quality. In all, there, are 34 numbers of the magazine, with more then 600 pages of interesting reading about the Viking world, written by scholars from USA to Russia.

I was lucky enough to recently purchase 26 back issues of Viking Heritage Magazine and have found them to be absolutely wonderful and full of information. Having now learned about the digital file of 34 issues, I immediately purchased this download. I belong to a small Norse/Viking reenactment group and the information contained in the Viking Heritage Magazines is like water to the thirsty. I can only hope one day this magazine will again be published. Thank you, Dan, for making this download available!
