A drug formulary is provided which gives proper drug dosages for many medications. This book is also applicable to backwoods travelers, international travelers, and those spending substantial time in areas where veterinary services are unavailable.

I bought this book after seeing it listed and checking out the on-line preview. I found it quite readable and have read it cover to cover. The table of contents is well done, the index is good (could be a little more complete, but good), and the material is presented in an entertaining, but knowledgeable style. Dr. LaVigne has taken some pretty dry material and made it very readable. Some of the stuff seems quite a bit above the average person's head, but he warns the reader adequately early on to use common sense. Most of the how-to stuff is given for use in emergency situations. I do not cruise on a boat, but I do a lot of backwoods RV boondocking, and I think this book is great to have on hand. My two Scotties are really glad I got it!
