Animaul is the daughter and only child of The Clan’s esteemed war general, who holds enough authority to disguise his daughter as a boy in order to train her to be a warrior. But when the king’s son, Messia, conveys his message of a New Way to the Clan members, the Clan finds itself divided right down the middle. Then the king and figurehead dies, and the division is complete.
