This book is a very focused anthology of poems that really spoke out against the issues of abuse, violence, addiction and eating disorder. The order in which the pieces are placed within the book really flows for me. First few works gets me sensing the breaking of the silence; the next group of works gets me feeling the writers' experiences of their pain or hurt; then the following works touch on the silence entrapping the voices; the ending pieces are reflective.
Many times when I read some of the pieces in there, I can hear myself go "hmmmm" or sigh because I feel the words and the emotions from the pieces. Some of the writers in there are excellent writers, particularly Eliza Kelley, Misty Lackey, Julian Esteban Torres, and Courtney Ann Smith. Their pieces use words so beautifully and efficiently to describe and express experiences and feelings with clear images or narratives.
Thanks for putting this together. It's quite inspirational.
