The King wisely arranges for his daughter to be schooled in the difference between good and bad to protect her from pain, fear and uncertainty ... and what father does not wish for such? And when her lessons are complete, the Smallest Kingdom will be protected from the constant threat of darkness ... and what ruler does not wish for such?

Ah yes, if only the world were that simple. But the world is not black and white, nor even endless shades of grey; it is filled with the most beautiful of colors ... if only she could see them.

Written by Ana Ripka, “The Sad Princess” has been performed by the Romanian National Theater and broadcast over Romanian National Radio. Ours is the first English language production of this truly wonderful, hypnotic, melancholy fairy tale for adults and children.
