Printed: 437 pages, 8.5" x 11", perfect binding, full-color interior ink Description:The specific purpose of this book is to assist field crews assessing the recovery of four burned areas on Bureau of Land Management land in Mono County, California. The first two areas, Cannon 1 and 2, are south and west of Walker, California. The third, Slinkard 1, is just west of US 395 a little south of the Monitor Pass (California 89) turnoff. The fourth site, Slinkard 2, is along the south side of California 89 just before it ascends abruptly to Monitor Pass. Maps are included at the end of the book. The purpose of the fire recovery assessment is to examine the effectiveness of seeding three native grasses, a native flax, and antelope bush in fending off exotic grasses as the fire area recovers. All field work is done at the beginning of summer, but not all plants are in life stages at that time that allow them to be keyed out using standard sources. Thus, the intent of this book is to portray the plants as they appear in early summer to aid field crews in identifying them. Keywords:Listed in: |
