He enjoys a bevy of buxom beauties, in true Miller style. Not as macho as Ernest, Fred manages to inject the book with a unique philosophy, somewhere between Schopenhauer and Bob Dylan. There are scenes that will stay in my memory, like the time he visits Rachel’s English class and speaks about his radical reading of The Great Gatsby.
