I enjoyed the way the author blended poetry with narrative as it allowed the reader to step into the author's shoes. If I had to select a poem of choice it would be "The World" :-

The blue of the earth is like a sapphire
Resting gently on black velvet
Perfectly round, a glass marble waiting to be rolled
A speck of dust in a galaxy, that measures no more than
Lint on the hem of the universe
A little speck of insignificance waiting to be noticed.
