Author Robert Parker’s wife: “Wait—they’re going to pay you an obscene amount of money to show up once a week and teach one class on Wednesdays. And you don’t know whether you should take the job?!â€
Parker: “Yeah, but every Wednesday…?!â€
On Christmas, 2002, I wrote, “As of tomorrow,
I will no longer be employed full-time.â€
And so began a full year of blogs, posted on blogger.com from Wednesday, December 25, 2002, through Wednesday, December 24, 2003. Planned as a chronicle of an unemployed academic, it evolved to include My Irish Husband Tony, a wedding in France, two kittens, the Bahamas, family photos, and James Joyce.
Taken together they chronicle a pretty interesting year. I hope you enjoy reading them. I sure enjoyed writing them.
And I’d love to know what you think: kaydee@gypsyteacher.com.
