Captain Corill Lintemacil of the King's Foresters is just trying to safeguard the frontier with his band of misfits, but when a renegade Baron takes unwelcome liberties with an Earl's daughter, he is plunged into a maelstrom of kidnapping, escapes, swordplay, battle, stealth, seige, and magic. And loses his best pair of boots.

The Kings Foresters [ No Rating ] 20 May 2006
by lucie
I really enjoyed this for the first quarter, maybe third, got to know all the characters and liked the down to earth attitude of cap'n Corrill and had some laughs where I was meant to. In the end though the battles just went on and on, I truly feel now I know what a blow-by-blow account is, several times over, and I wished for more story instead. Just a minor point, I know it was nice he got together with that magical woman, but really, would it have happened that way in the midst of a siege? Just once I'd like to read a sex scene in a fantasy tale that doesn't involve preparatory washing with surprisingly available amounts of hot water.
