Pay Me What I’m Worth
Although a catchy title, it is an important one – to get paid what you are worth. The intriguing title is what first drew me to this book.
However, what kept me pressed to the pages were the personal steps outlined in each chapter that reminded me to take a personal inventory, renew my feeling of self worth, to always be fair, to realize and appreciate close friends, the importance of ethical behavior and the value of my time and experience.
Doing the exercises in each chapter allowed me to completely and fully examine each of these personal steps. This was time consuming, but very worthwhile – each exercise gave me the opportunity to fully examine the task and to fully examine the results.
Reviewing my exercise results was very rewarding -- it reminded me that it works both ways – you should also pay others what they are worth. Being a compassionate, ethical, fair person who values time [for myself and others] is the key to being paid what I'm worth.
In an engaging conversational tone, Souldancer takes his reader step-by-step through ten chapters of solid, pragmatic advice. How do you determine what you’re worth? Take a look at section one, which helps you inventory your resources and your skills. An expert at brainstorming, Souldancer helps you identify resources you didn’t even know you had. Need a boost in self-confidence? You will learn how to interview people for a reality check that will propel you toward your goal of earning what you’re worth.
In Exercise 14, he helps you Plan to be Lucky. Souldancer also understands the value of time as well as money, and offers tips and tricks to unclutter your life, your thoughts, and your calendar. Need a mentor? You will learn not only how to find a mentor but also how to get the most out of your relationship with a mentor. You may even end up with several mentors!
As you move forward with Souldancer’s help, you’ll discover not only your own invaluable worth and potential, but the worth and potential of those who surround you. You’ll learn how to hold others accountable for their commitments to you, how to free yourself from those who do not make good on their commitments, and how your own ethical behavior adds value to your worth. This man has been there, and he is willing to share the richness of his personal experience with you.
I delighted in Souldancer’s invitation to savor the book and luxuriate in it, but still, I found myself eager to participate in each new exercise and add pages to what he calls my Worth Passport. It also seemed to me that his suggestion to join one of his study groups would add further value to his program for developing your potential to its fullest. I look forward to more work from this promising and upbeat leader with his gentle insistence that everyone should be paid what they’re worth.
