Description:Once you have had your manuscript typeset and prepared for print, it is advisable to have it proofread. You will have read your text many times and may believe that you have spotted every possible error. But over-familiarity with the work can allow mistakes to slip through the net, and having a fresh pair of eyes review the text will allow you to publish it with complete confidence. Page proofs (ie the typeset pages) represent the first, and usually the only, chance for authors see the words integrated with the other elements – eg page layout design, illustrations, graphs – to become a coherent whole before publication. The proofreader's role is to check that the editor, designer and typesetter have done their jobs correctly, and to use judgment in marking amendments, in order to minimise costs and delays.
