A trail of bodies and subtle clues lead to the discovery of looted art masterpieces, gold and the Amber Room. Set in present day Switzerland, Germany and Austria, the principal characters, a French Art Historian and a Swiss police detective join forces in an effort to recover the gold, art masterpieces and solve the murders. In the course of the investigation, they discover that they could be on the threshold of unearthing one of the greatest hidden treasure hoards since the discovery of King Tutenkhamen's tomb. But they come face to face with an organized group of killers after the same treasure. Along the way, the police detective finds danger and passionate romance. My book club LOVED this story. It sold out of our local bookstore four times. We loved all of the characters, the drama and the suspense. The ending was SUPER. I see that Mr. Dodd has a sequel coming out soon. Put me on the e-mail notification list. My club will definitely read more of this man's work. FIVE STAR READING! Louise M.

Fantastic, Energetic, A Page Turner, Powerful, A woman's Book as well as a Great Mystery for lovers of the Genre.
Tom Dodd - Great Story, and I agree with the others: I'd LOVE to read a sequel soon. I'm still recovering from the surprise ending!

Fellow Readers:
This was a superb story. The characters were remarkably real, and I predict that the other readers will demand to see more of them. I'm completely enchanted with Valerie (I wish that she worked for me). Soria and Germain are almost polar opposites, yet they compliment each other in the same contrasting way that Spock and Dr. McCoy work together in Star Trek. The best part of all was the page turning. Half way through this book I couldn't put it down for longer than 30 mins., when I was drawn back to it. Very few authors have that ability to hold my attention like that.
Sadly, I could not find any other works by Mr. Tom F. Dodd. So if you read this, I hope that you're still writing because a talent like yours would be wasted with one effort. Seriously.
Keep up the good work and thanks.

Right up my ally, a mystery laced with foreign intrigue, action and historical accuracies that sweeps you in its wake. In the tradition of Follett, Ludlum, LeCarre’. Incased in this novel is a touching love story which does not interfere but rather compliments overall theme. We must see more of this author.

Now that was a STORY. I was really sorry to see it end. When it did end WOW !!!!!
Mr. Todd, you have got to write another story and surprise me again. I was sitting on a beach in L.I. reading the ending, and I yelled out, "Holy S___!" People around me thought I was losing my mind. That was great stuff, dude.
Okay, now the balanced perspective: I found six spelling and grammatical errors. I sent them to you at your email box. But Congrats on a super raed.

A super story. I loved it and I want more. Sequel * Sequel * Sequel. How long must I wait? With an ending like that, I need a sequel. Oh by the way? Did I mention a sequel?
Seriously, a great read, wonderful characters. How do you writers think up this stuff?

A wonderful story. A great blending of principal characters. They were very real and delightfully developed. I felt as though I really understood Valerie's feelings at a deep level.
By the end of chapter four I kept wanting to go back to the book constantly, but responsibilities tore me away. I finished the story in only four days, which is a record for me.
Mr. Dodd, I truly hope that there will be a sequel.

All right, do I know mystery stories or what? This one really rang my bell. What characters! Soria was fantastic and dynamic. A correction to one of the reviewers, Clive Owens has the Soria part LOCKED UP. Forget Hugh Jackman. Valerie, I'm still fantasizing about. Germain was super cool. All of the villains were cold and calculating and definitely scary. I wanna go the Switzerland and see this place.
The old general needed to get more involved though...ooops, sorry, I shouldn't give away anything.
If you're a mystery buff like me, don't miss this one. I defy you to have guessed where the ending ends.

I got this book because I enjoy mysterys. But the romance part really grabbed me. I want to know how does a male writer get into a woman's head and her feelings like that?
Truly a pleasdant surprise on 2 counts. The mystery and the romance. Tom, do you have any more like this? Please let me know. Thank you a lot.

Ohmigosh!!! I love mysteries and romance stories. This one hit the mark. One of the best I've read in years. Loved the characters. They were dynamic and real. Their interaction was superb with lots of tension and page turning. What an ending! Who would have thunk it?
T.F.D. did a great job. This book made my summer. I can see Hugh Jackman as the police inspector.

The book is a great read, the characters are believeable. As the story unfolds bonds of trust are put to the test. Organized assassins run rampant and do everything in their power to stop a humble art historian. An unusual alliance is stuck to turn the tides of corruption and to uncover some of the greatest treasures of the world. The story is both charming and intense. A recommended story.

The story illustrated another dimension of the Nazi's attempt to destroy valuable possessions that belonged to Jews, and the conspiracy to hide it.
I felt it was a compelling tale, written in a way that was difficult at times to put down.
I'd like to see other stories from this author on this subject. I never knew how much art work had been confiscated and then vanished forever.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I was captivated by the story line, the twists and turns, and the development of the characters. They were rich and believable.
The ending totally surprised me, it came out of nowhere, but I enjoyed it. It was masterfully written, and I have recommended it to several of my friends.
