The story takes place on a far-away colony 40 light years from Earth. The main characters develop a bond while camping and canoing in the rugged mountains of a distant world. One of the adventurers, a 12 year-old boy gets deathly ill, and has to be taken to Earth, but most likely won't survive the trip. His friend, a computer scientist, has a unique method of insuring the child survives. With a suspenseful ending, this story was a BIG HIT with my readers from 1995 to 1998 when the original book went out of print, and the diskette was no longer being distributed. The original story has been enhanced, and it is now being published in hardcopy form.
