Description:

Telah should have outgrown the stories her grandfather made up about his travels to another world. After all, she had just turned twelve and was old enough to know better. Her own world is filled with pixie parties in her garden, garments woven out of light, and attending her first Harvest Gala. But Telah is fascinated by the possibility of finding a secret door. Suspecting that her older sister and their neighbor Morley know where the door is located, she convinces her friend Travis to help her look for it. They are followed through the door by pixies in search of their own fun. Danger, chaos, and adventure follow as Telah, the pixies, and Morley all try to find their way back home – only to discover that the door has been shut! An old-fashioned “fairy tale” with a contemporary tone. For children of all ages.

The child in all of us. [ No Rating ] 10 Apr 2008 (updated 10 Apr 2008)
THE WORLD BEYOND THE DOOR brings out the child in all of us. I am sure that everyone dreams of a fantasy world just beyond visible images. Why not a door in a tree. The children in this book have a desire for adventure, which is normal for children. Of course every child adores a loving, story-telling grandfather. A possible door in a tree to a world yet unexplored brings out the curiosity of the 4 children--something that must happen before they become sophisticated teens. The gnomes and fairies have their own world, which makes this story unique! Where do bones and exotic herbs come from. These children have their own ideas. A little bit like "Alice in Wonderland", or should I say the cartoon "The Backyardigans." Then on the other hand, if you enjoyed "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", you should like this book. the story is resolved easily with a return to reality and a rabbit going into the hole, and the mayor planning to look into the strange events in town.

Fabulous description from the first, it really drew me forward. I could just imagine that house, the path, the oak and of course the mystery, the secrets...the magic. Delicious!
