My husband David and I were just looking through Forrest's previous book "REFLECTIONS FROM THE HEART," and commented that Forrest is an awesome poet. I have yet to purchase her new book "LAUGH, LIVE, CRY," as this past year I've been going through cancer treatments. I know I will eventually purchase Forrest's new book.
I will say that everyone who does purchase either book will have a treasure, and proud to add to your book shelf or library. You'll find yourself as we do taking the book down over and over again to read or reread Forrest's beautiful poetry. Thank You Forrest for your wonderful friendship from over the Net. God Bless and I wish you Mega sales!
Love,
Dave and Joyce
Forrest Phelps-Cook has also authored another book of poetry “Reflections from the Heart”.
As the title of this book indicates, it will make you cry, laugh and help you to cope with the trials of life that we are dealt. I found the book to be very entertaining and enlightening. It reflects much of the author’s life and how she dealt with the trials and tribulations that she faced. It reflects her faith in God and that He will be there for you if you have the faith. There are parts that she writes about that reflect her patriotism and love of country. I think that as you read the book that it is a window into the life of the author. Here and there you will find thumbnail sketches into many parts of her personal life.
There is much humor that will make you laugh and help you to understand that life can be fun with the right perspective. My favorite is “There’s a Mouse in the House”. That is one to which most people will certainly relate. There are others but this one struck me the most.
Overall, the one point that I liked about the book is that the poetry is so easily understood. There are no hidden meanings and metaphors that one has to try and decipher from the poems. It is written in plain everyday English so that the meanings can be readily understood. I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. I am hesitant to emphasize poetry because the poems seem to each be like short stories. For those readers who are not readers of poetry because they have to search for the meanings of each verse, this will certainly be the poetry that they will enjoy. Easy and enjoyable reading can be had by all who love life and people. I enjoyed all aspects of the book and recommend it to anyone.
