The text is primarily centered around mammoth rock shows at the now defunct Capital Centre sports arena in Largo, Maryland. During these seismic musical spectacles the protagonist finds himself unintentionally involved in difficult situations with security personnel, concert attendees, girlfriends, school chums, roommates, landlords and various other colorful and occasionally bizarre characters whom he has met in and around the Northern Virginia suburbs.
