Spider Griffin has served up a classic Gothic tale as well as some of the best I've read. What rich detail of things English: mannerisms, and country side, and the dark moods, and the alternating intentions in the consciousness of his characters. Splendid. His work reminds me of my all time favorite writer, Thomas Wolfe, author of a somewhat autobiographical book called, Look Homeward Angel: a fascinating rambling excursion into the haunting, southern red clay world of the American south, where he noticed everything and cataloged it all in the mighty flowing river of his prolific prose. Although Spider Griffin writes in a different era, and genre than Thomas Wolfe did; he is the modern, English equivalent. His work is just as rich in detail of character and settings, and nothing misses his eye either. I was enthralled by this haunting work.

Spider Griffin's Slugg (A Gothic Tale) is a study in the disturbing calamity of being possessed. It shows the turmoil, and mental aberration of a character, young Alastair Slugg, who doesn't know he is possessed --- and wait 'till you find out who he is possessed by! This supernatural conflict of moving from body to body is deftly written, exposing Spider's firm grasp of narration showing the inner turmoil of both characters simultaneously operating, and handling one body between the two of them. I got so caught up in his supernatural drama, I thought to splash my face with cold water to keep from experiencing vertigo. It disturbed me right up to the end. I realize it's just fiction; but this writer makes you feel the reality of it. He's got my attention. I'm waiting to see if a film doesn't come out of this book, given a little time.

Here's To You Alastair Slugg!

From the first lines I knew that a lot of hard work went into this this book. The Possession of Alastair Slugg is very descriptive and enthralling.

My apologies as this is not a review. But this is my name. It was also my father's name. He, nor me, would not have killed someone to hide an affair. He was big time anti affair, and anti killing. He saw a bunch of his buddies die in WWII. I am also true to my vow to not mess around. BUT, I understand fiction, and applaud your dissemination.

Being fussy on what I read and finding it hard to 'get into' a book, I tried this one based on my love of this guy's music.

I was not disappointed!

I finished it in two nights........need I say more?!
