I couldn't put this story down! A significant "what if" to Jane' Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This story has excitement, sensitivity and heartwarming scenes. If you are a Pride and Prejudice fan, you will love this story. If you are unfamiliar with the Jane Austen classic, you will still enjoy this touching love story.
This book has such a creative approach to the Pride and Prejudice alternate storybook. How very appealing to have Darcy and Elizabeth meet on board a ship bound for America. They fall in love, deny their feelings, and ultimately get together. I have read many sequels and this one takes the cake as a unique and captivating environment in which to bring the protagonists together. I love Kara Louise's style and tone. Well worth the read.
Loved this twist on the traditonal Darcy and Elizabeth story. Well written, guaranteed page turner, made me sigh in all the right places and LOL at the most surprising! One need not have read any of Jane Austen's work to get into this book. This was a delight to read that I am so glad to own and will definitely become one of those books that I enjoy picking up and reading wherever the book falls open! This is a romantic novel at it's best.
Loved this book couldn't put it down. Such a page turner. I loved it when it was at The Derbyshire Writers Guild but to read it in print it seemed to come to life.
This retelling of Pride and Prejudice gives us more of the characters we love, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, but in a little different setting - on board a ship bound for America. I won't give too much away other than to say I could not put this book down. It's a great read, the characters ring true, and when the storyline merges with the original, you'll see how things have changed because of what happened on the ship.
Being a die-hard Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen fan, I try to find anything and everything to read about this eternal and wonderful love story and I can fully recommend this book. Kara Louise has captured the very essence of this story and couple. Her writing style is one of the best and most entertaining I have come across in all the fan fiction and sequels I have read. When you start, make the time because you will not want to put it down! I do hope for all the P&P loyal fans, she continues to write more stories of this most beloved couple for she knows them well.
Having read this authors previous work, this one was an instant classic. I was thrilled to see her published as she is one of the few authors to have her muse on the pulse of these characters. From the very beginning, she grabs your attention and does not let go even as the last page closes to an end. You will remember this book and want to read it again as I have done. It was just as exciting as the first read. Be prepared to fall in love with Darcy and Elizabeth all over again and then prepare yourself to fall in love with this author. If you see a book with her name on it BUY IT!
