Description:

Scream of Consciousness is a collection of puzzles, poems, short stories and rants all of which share one common thread – they were written impromptu, in single focused moments of creative clarity. The idea behind Scream is a new writing style that I call transentia, which is similar in nature to the Japanese philosophy Wabi Sabi: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect. It’s about finding the beauty of frozen moments in time and the flaw of those moments. It’s a bold and selfless idea to offer your creativity on display with painfully obvious flaws amidst the work. It’s intuitive for most artists to strive for perfection when trying to convey their vision so the writer corrects his story through several drafts and extensive editing. But to be truly selfless requires one to shed the ego and forge fearlessly ahead with the knowledge that most likely, you will stumble when the deluge of creativity streams from your mind and forces you to produce something new.

The first time I read this book, it blew my mind! I had to get another copy to send to a friend of mine, just so he would see what a completely original idea this was! The esoteric feeling throughout the entire book is really inspiring. The poetry evokes such vivid imagery and the prose at the beginning makes me want to become a better writer myself. Felix Winslow is definitely one of the best writers I have read in a long time.

Hopefully somewhere down the line, he will write something else, which will be just as great or better.

The consequences of deep thinking erupts to the surface with the power and energy of "Old Faithful". However, no hydrodynamics at work here, Felix's drivng forces are raw intellect and a superb gift of penmanship.

Felix Winslow's, Scream of Consciousness, is a very thought provoking collection of prose, essays, poetry and puzzles –each written in single-session spiels. Winslow executes his own unique style of writing, challenging the most discerning epicureans of philosophy. Winslow’s melodic lyricism is not only revealed in the way his fiction flows or how he presents an argument (which are both OUTSTANDING), but perhaps peaks in the combined brilliance of his poetry. The latter half of the book is filled with puzzles that promote even more abstract thinking and tests its readers’ intellect like mental boot camp. Felix Winslow is without question one of the greatest writers of our time.

A delightful blend of narrations, ponderments and mental challenges are woven deftly into Felix Winslow's debut. This is one of those rare books that can both entertain you and make you think!

In an age where "American Idol" and 7-second sound bytes enthral the short attention spans of the masses, it was quite refreshing to see that the art of philosophy has not been completely eradicated from the world!

A fantastic book indeed. I, for one, eagerly await more from Felix Winslow.
... A Perfectly Good Book. [ No Rating ] 18 Sep 2006
SCREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS is A Perfectly Good Book.

Felix Winslow could be the most brilliant mind alive in our world today - or ever, for that matter.

(I will stand by those statements in court.)

Felix Winslow is always an entertaining experience.
Even for the anti-reader, Felix brings to print puzzles and prose. The author proposes ponderances to amuse the enlightened mind, enlighten the open mind, puzzle the questionably minded, perplex the never-minded, and perhaps even open the 'anti'-minded.

Scream of consciousness, Felix Winslow!

Keep on screaming, and streaming your streaming screaming - the world absolutely cannot wait for your next book.
