In A Vacant Building Original Soundtrack

This brooding composition was created for the upcoming film In A Vacant Building by musical madman Mark Dickinson of the bands Others and BloodSuckingFreaks. Folks familiar with those two bands may be surprised to find out that this opus is classical in nature, showing that Dickinson is not only capable of creating excellent horror rock, he is quite at home crafting gloomy soundtracks in the vein of Phillip Glass.

Mostly piano/keyboard based pieces, with all of the dread necessary to make a film great. I particularly love the harpsichord and string like sounds, as they add an eerie atmosphere to the work. The overall feeling gives you the sense of roaming around a vacant building, with night quickly approaching, not knowing how to get out. Tracks that really stood out were So How Did We Die, So You’re A Ghost, and the opening track Monster. The CD also contains a bonus untitled track, which features female vocals, that is simply haunting.

Mark Dickinson has created an impressive score that can stand alone without a film, but which I’m sure adds immensely to the finished product. Having not seen the movie, I can only say that with a soundtrack this good, the film should be quite creepy.
