I don't know if this book is classified as non-fiction or not, but so many of the facts in the accounting of my mother's death are wrong that I would be very hesitant to use this book for anything more than kindling. Woe to the poor soul who uses this book for its stated purpose... survival advice! -- Keoni Morrell
Prurient interests satisfied… and good advice, too!
I'm a sucker for disaster stories. News about car crashes, bridge collapses, train wrecks -- they all lure me in.
That said, Michael has played a trick on me. Much like the early days of Sesame Street, his book has managed to teach me a few things about safety while masquerading as entertainment.
Frankly, I think the tourist bureaus would do well to learn from Michael's example -- this is a book any teenager would love (imagine it as a television series!), and yet I'm sure the lessons it imparts will save at many readers' lives.
Kudos, Michael. Well done.
