During the summer of 1962 I worked at the Northfield Summer Conferences on the campus of the Northfield School for Girls in Massachusetts. I fell in love with the place, the people and the enchanting Northfield Chateau. I pleaded with my parents to send me to the boarding school, but they would not. I was left with the memories of that summer, a passion for anything to do with the Chat and an unexplained loyalty to the school I never attended. When I became an adult I began sending money to the alumnae fund. A flustered secretary phoned me asking what class I was affiliated with. That is the day I became a member of the Class of 1964.
