Printed: 84 pages, 6" x 9", perfect binding, black and white interior ink Description:POOLSIDE POETRY was written during a two week family holiday in July and August 2006. In Cyprus. Obviously. It contains a wide variety of poems, such as the ones about Helios, the God-like pool attendant, with striking Greek looks and very small...brain. There’s verse about the suffocating heat and shenanigans around the pool. There’s the visit to the Flea Market, and just across the sea the war that was raging between Israel and Lebenon is also refelcted upon. Poolside Poetry attempts to to peel away the different layers of Cyprus's personality and bring it to life. It is a beautiful country with a lot going on, but above all else, the book describes the daily torment and struggle of what it is to be Scottish, pale, and living under a 100 degree sun.
