Description:

This book covers the life and times of Ptolemy of Egypt, a Macedonian who grew up with Alexander the Great, served him as a General in his invasion of Asia, and went on to rule the land of Egypt, becoming known as Ptolemy I Soter, the Savior.

In his life he set Alexandria on a path to become the leading city of the Hellenistic world, laid the foundations for the Lighthouse of Pharos and the Library of Alexandria, and founded the Ptolemaic dynasty, which would last until the death of Cleopatra in 30 BC.

This is a research paper I wrote as a History major in my Junior year at UNC-Chapel Hill. It's not exactly publishable material, but I did get an A on it, and it might be useful for anyone doing research of their own.
