Like many of the other readers, at first I was intrigued mostly by the idea of the floral sofa called Mildred and the wonderful world of adventures that catches you from the very first page and makes it really difficult to put down this book. I literally went back to that lovely sensation I thought I had lost by now with reading, when your eyes are closing from sleep, but you have to go for one page more...

Wittines, lovely descriptions of real and imaginary places, to the point that you actually 'feel' you are there. Some loud laughters, Andrew Dunham has the very rare ability to transport you to the most magic place of all: your inner self. Without the boring, self compiacent language of many New Age/self help writers. This book will open some windows for whoever feels the need to find some answers. Or maybe simply to ask the questions. It's one of the two books I always keep by my bed and every now and then read again, just to lift my spirits.

Andrew Dunham has created a hero in the line of “The Saint” or “Sherlock Holmes” with the character of Farley Snug: elegant, mysterious and indeed very british!!! With talent and humour, this young author mixes truths and myths in this “roman à clé” by excellence! His fans are craving for Farley’s next adventures in anticipation!

This book is so well written that it is easy to loose yourself in it from the very first page. The descriptions of the people and places thar Farley Snug encounters during his time travelling leads you to believe you are there with him on the mountainside with Dorgas or in London with Mary.
Farley Snug travels through time with the help of a floral sofa called Mildred and he learns more about who he is and that all lessons in life are valuable.
If you are fed up of reading books which stick to a formula then try this for a very different and rewarding read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as it transported me into the world of Farley, Mildred and friends so swiftly, i couldnt put it down till i had finished it. Andrew Dunham has a lovely way of exploring the english countryside enriching the reader with some beautiful words and imagery. There were also laugh out loud moments, wonderfully in depth descriptions of some of the characters, and some very english mannerisms. The characters understood the time theory with relative ease, and took it in their stride, which automatically made it easier for the audience to understand, very interesting! I am however curious to find out more about Mr Farley Snug, wherever did the author get that name from? A very curious character indeed! But an enjoyable one. Thanks for the adventure!

Witty, charming, full of luscious detail and crafted language, Andrew Dunham’s literary style and panache are weaved skilfully through the entire book. Reading the words he has delicately fashioned is a delight and a journey of enchantment. The story involves us with Farley Snug’s adventures in trying to understand about a time continuum, his progression through to reliance on pure faith and allowing the lovely time travelling sofa Mildred to take him where needs be. Whilst this is a science-fiction and fantasy story, it’s not got the cliché’s and arrogance that makes a lot of this literature unreadable. I’ve always thought I liked fantasy and sci-fi but often find such large foreign landscapes egotistical and about as interesting as an ancient professor’s history lecture. This book embodies the concepts of fantasy without overwhelming. Whilst Andrew’s travels and various experiences of the world filter down beautifully into this novel and his humour is evident, I found that some of the characters could have been better developed. I enjoy reading about what a character is thinking and feeling, to understand them and learn to love or loath them. It could be argued, with the way that the book ends, that this isn’t an important focus. However I felt that I was going just a little bit on faith too and would like to have seen some of the lush vegetation of the rest of the story applied to the character development. This mix of well observed and described reality, some very English humour and bizarre fantasy moments works for me and I look forward to much more from this author.
