This book provides an exciting adventure suitable for all ages. Joel, the hero, has Down's Syndrome which, instead of being a problem as he has his adventures, proves to be a real asset. Jane Butcher, the writer, has a clear understanding of the realities of a child with a disability and this understanding gives the story an air of reality even though it is a fantasy tale. As the first book from a new writer this is a must read. If you know anyone with Downs you will recognise so much but even if you just take this story as a good tale you won't be disappointed.
