Rapid Prototyping (RP) refers to a group of techniques to quickly fabricate a part or an assembly using three-dimensional CAD data. In all these techniques, materials are added and bonded layer after layer to obtain the prototype. Two of the important Rapid Prototyping techniques are:-1) Stereo lithography, 2) Laser Engineering Net Shaping.Rapid prototyping has helped in DEVELOPING product variants, in HANDLING of product complexities and in IMPROVING product lifetime, REDUCING delivery time.Reverse Engineering is the technique of duplicating; eliminating or modifying certain features of an existing product from the CAD data obtained from the available product itself using digitization techniques.
