Soon, Pete is playing host to a beautiful Mexican woman and her young son who are on the run from someone—or something—across the border. Then thugs kidnap the woman and child. With the doc’s help, Pete, an ex-pilot who is never supposed to fly again, steals an ancient airplane, and the two salty seniors are off into Mexico to rescue the captives. They battle through plane crashes, shootings, a drug war, and some fancy flying before the story comes to its surprise conclusion. Listed in: |

But in between this knowledge, Mr. Bryans has engaged the reader with a fabulous story that never fails to keep the reader glued to the story without it ever wavering or appearing dull and listless like a majority of novels out today.
There is action, adventure, heroism and a love story to boot. I kept thinking while reading this novel, that this would actually make a great feature film, and with Hollywood coming out with such few great ideas, they should start to look at novels like this for originality and much needed great stories.
I was also captivated by the sense of humor between the two main characters (Pete Mitchell and Doc Mallard). For a first time fiction writer, I feel Mr. Bryans hit one right out of the ballpark. I undertand he has written a few other books also dedicated to his career in the Navy and look forward to reading these as well.
I hope that this novel wasn't a one shot deal for the author, because he has found a new fan who is a very harsh critic when it comes to most novels that are out today. Much like Stephen King is into horror and John Grisham is into action filled law novels. Mr. Bryans manages to incorporate planes (of all era's) into a great piece of fiction.
