Description:

Mourning in the Mountains is a book designed to help people have a better understanding of death and dying. It offers hope for the hopeless and help for the helpless through sayings, poems, and personal narratives written by children, college students and adults who wish to share their experience in an effort to console others. Mourning in the Mountains allows the reader a reflective time and its sole purpose is to assure those who are dying or left behind, that death is a natural part of life. We need not run from it, nor embrace it prematurely, but we must accept it on life/death terms. This faith based book offers a reflective truth that is heard by the heart.

Mourning in the Mountains [ No Rating ] 12 Mar 2007
My compliments to David Chaltas. This book is heartfelt and very enduring to those who have lost a loved one. It truly reflects on Eastern Kentucky's customs and the closeness of family even through death. I recommend it for anyone who may be dealing with grief of a loved one's passing because it lets the reader know grief and mourning is a natural process we all face at sometime in our lives. Thank you David for allowing some of our dreams to come true. I was overcome with such joy in seeing my mother's poems in this book that I wept with pride for she never believed her works were ever good enough to be published but she always hoped at least one would. I only wish she could have been here to see it happen. May God bless and thanks again. Shawana Slone
