Very personal, very painful stuff. If it's you and your own situation in words, then you are very brave. Now, the words are great, but the formation drifts into rap at times. That's no bad thing because I'm sure you'd love Eminem to pick up on them. But, it's hard for me to truly like this style, as good as others will, and probably rightly, say it is. But for sheer hard work, guts and bravery, two stars. The third is missing because it's not my thing, unfair, I know, but that's life.

This author is probably one of the best I've read since being a part of Lulu. She has imagination written all over her. She understands the meaning of "words". She has true power and creativity in the words she writes.

I have only one complaint though, as much as I enjoyed reading this, everyone of her pieces rhymes. And though the rhyme is good, there are portions that you can tell were forced.

Other than that, this is a must read for anyone.
Thought provoking.....

Angel's work strikes the heart as she captures our imaginations with unexpected wordplay, rhythm, and the revelations of life.

She has left me with a Heart-Shaped Hole that I'll not soon forget. Wonderful stuff.

Broken Halo the essence of true poetry [ No Rating ] 20 May 2004
Broken Halo has hypnotic cadence and rhythm blended with strong simple meanings and underlying strong passion. That is the description of good poetry, just as the beauty of hiaku is simplicity, rhythm and meaning, Broken Halo has those artistic elements built into it.
Loss, dissapointment in unmet expectations and unspoken angst at those set those expectations create a subtle emotional conflict. The author is talented.

Angel Renee shines brightly here in this poignant collection of poetry. The emotions are naked and true, filled with pitch-perfect anger, angst, and pathos. I kept saying, "I know this person; I know these feelings." And that is one of the gifts that Angel Renee has: she approaches the familiar and makes the familiar new, as though you're experiencing all the pain and all the disillusionment of love for the very first time again. A wonderful collection. Do yourself a favor, and buy this collection, now. You will savor each and every poem, only to come away feeling hopeful and refreshed, having enjoyed the experience as though for the very first time.

I’m just a little girl, who’s feeling a little sad."
