Printed: 87 pages, 6" x 9", perfect binding, black and white interior ink Description:We are warned that “…Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." (2 Timothy 3:13) and “many false prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many” with “great signs and wonders” (Mat 24:9 & Mark 13:25) This booklet is a scripture study on how people are deceived, or rather how they “allow themselves” to be deceived. It demonstrates that by following the counsels of God contained in our Scriptures you can avoid being deceived and also detect whether you are currently involved in a deception. The information in this study is not merely theoretical, but based upon my own real life experience. These are lessons I learned the hard way. NOTE: This newest version has additional information, another whole chapter, and editorial errors have been corrected. Keywords:Listed in: |

I ordered this book from Lulu Self Publishing at Doug's suggestion. It was "a tad expensive" but was worth the price and the shipping because of its honesty, thoroughness, and content.
Where Doug and I would totally agree is that God's revealed truth is not a subjective thing that "comes from a 'me and my God'" viewpoint. That is the sure-fire path to deception. Doug stresses the need for and existence of objective truth and being serious about Scripture: "reading it, learning it, marking it, and inwardly digesting it" under the illumination of the Holy Spirit.
The book is particularly timely in the religious world of today which is so taken with "Cafeteria Christianity" of whatever brand. "I will decide what Scriptures I like and don't like," is today's unspoken mantra. Doug reminds us, by using personal experience and reason, that this is a recipe for spiritual shipwreck.
As one not of the Restoration tradition, I learned some interesting things about the present situation in the former RLDS Church from a Restorationist point-of-view; and, I might add, from a loving, creative, positive perspective. Here is not an angry, disappointed sectarian venting his rage at the "mother-church" for abandoning the faith but a real statement of concern for souls and love for the Lord and the Gospel.
Doug's website is top-quality, a great forum which sticks up for their convictions but is truly loving and concerned about all who are seeking to know Jesus and make Him known.
I thank Doug for challenging me to obtain and read his book. It reflects a lot of wisdom and work and was very much worth the time and money.
Anyone on either side of the former RLDS controversy should read the book and carefully reflect on what it is saying.
My only criticism would be editorial. The next edition should be proof-read carefully for spelling et al.
